Gel Boards

I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest and it inspired me to try my own take on it! My kids love it and it was so easy and fun to make! 

Supplies:  
Hair gel (cheap stuff from the a dollar store)
Glitter
Duct tape
Cardboard
Clear plastic bag


Step 1: Measure approximately 5-6 ounces of hair gel and mix in as much glitter as you want!


Step 2: Pour mixture into a clear food storage bag and get as much air out as possible and seal bag.

Celebrate Memorial Day at Reiman Gardens.   All active duty military and veterans are admitted free as a thanks for their service.

When: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Who: Everyone
How: Bring ID card.
Cost: General admission to the Gardens is $8.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, $4.00 for youth ages 4-17, and free for age 3 and under. Admission is always free for Reiman Gardens members and Iowa State University students with valid ISU card.  Free for military and veterans on Memorial Day.

Play Pals is an indoor playground located in the Community Center Gym in Ames.  It has a slide, teeter-totter, mini basketball hoops, cycles, wagons, and other toys to keep the little ones entertained.

Who: Younger children.
How: Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver at all times.

The Main Street Farmers' Market will offer Iowa-grown fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, arts and crafts, fresh flowers and plants, and prepared foods.  In addition to great products, there will also be local entertainment and activities for kids.

Several churches in the area have teamed up to provide healthy lunches for all children in Boone during the summer break.  Lunches will be served at 4 locations every Monday-Friday from noon-1pm.

Macaroni Moms


Mom's Time Book Club at the YMCA

The Boone County YMCA Book Club meets the first Friday of each month from 9am-11am. The book club meets in the activity center of the YMCA.  This is a great social event for book lovers or people who like to socialize and meet new people.

This book club is open to the public and is free to everyone.  Child care is provided and is free to YMCA members with an unlimited childwatch pass or is $2 per child for non-members.  Light drinks and snacks are provided.  Come have fun discussing ...
